Portnellan Self Catering Lodges and cottages is an estate to escape from it all. Located in the Trossachs, Near Loch Lomond. It’s the type of holiday lodge experience to take more than just a few days off to savour. It’s a place to get away from the hustle and bustle of life and to simply take a moment to enjoy what nature has to offer. It’s an estate with a choice selection of holiday lodges. The Estate itself offers numerous activities, ranging from hiking and cycling to water activities and horseback riding. There’s also the opportunity to take in some clay shooting or venture into the history of the area around the Estate itself. Located in the heart of Scotland, Portnellan is about an hour and a half’s drive north from Glasgow, making it a convenient holiday destination. You can find it in the beautiful Scottish Highlands, in Loch Lomond and The Trossachs National Park. Here it’s ideally situated for that fabulous holiday adventure. It doesn’t mean you need to be sleeping under the stars either and can take in the sights from our extensive range of Holiday Lodges.
The location is excellent due to its proximity in the National Park and is one of the premier locations to enjoy a lovely holiday for locals and foreigners alike. It’s a place that’s nearly untouched by humans and completely breathtaking from every direction. In addition, since it’s in the Scottish highlands, there are numerous mountain peaks ready to be explored and hiked on.
Our self catering consists of both four-star accommodations and five-star accommodations. For those looking for more luxury accommodation, they can be found on our Estate as well. Check out the An Castiel and Red Stag for those wanting to have a high level of comfort after a long day of adventure. They are mirror images of each other spanning over 200 square meters, and both are two stories high as well. Perfect for the family to come along or those close groups of friends who want to reconnect after a long time apart. There’s no need to leave the creature comforts we’re used to so you can still enjoy your holiday away from the chaos as much as possible.

For example, maybe you want to experience Portnellan and are simply looking for a place to spend the evenings after a day exploring The Trossachs. What a great find and a great place to stay. Warm welcome, lots of advice, high quality lodge full of all you need for a self catering weekend. Nice beds, bedding towels and comfy settee to chill out after a day on the hills. Storage heatets were fab with a drying rack for drying kit overnight.Great base for nearby mountains, Crianlarich 2 miles away and Tyndrum 7 miles up the A82, both have good eateries. Would definitely stay at Portnellan again.
After staying in Buzzard in October we chose Pinemarten for our November holiday. Perfect stay, being keen photographers we had perfect weather. Bright skies, frost covered munroes and mirror like lakes. A perfct self catering lodge in a sea of tranquility, Loved it again and are already looking forward to our next stay
